Welcome to Mt Nicholas Hunting!

Remote, pristine, and with diverse landscape and wildlife, Mt. Nicholas Station offers a world class hunting experience and is one of the few locations in New Zealand where all the species offered can be hunted from the lodge base.

The terrain at Mt. Nicholas rises from lake level at 300 metres, to over 2,000 metres, a stunning landscape of river valleys and flats, mountain range after spectacular mountain range, native bush giving way to alpine grasses and craggy bluffs. Within this beautiful landscape are several species of equally beautiful trophy animals, either in Safari Park or Free Range like environments. This is an experience guaranteed to not only test your hunting skills, but to also leave you with a profound feeling of awe, after following such magnificent animals in such an extraordinary location.

Non Hunting Companions

What really sets Mt Nicholas apart from other hunting destinations, is our location & ability to offer a total New Zealand Holiday Experience where non-hunting companions are able to relax & enjoy the Mt Nicholas Lodge environment as well as experiencing all of the activities that nearby Queenstown has  to offer.

Game Varieties

Mt Nicholas offers a wide range of Trophy Hunts, from single species to combination hunts which can include up to 5 different animals.

  • Red Stag
  • Wapiti Bull
  • Fallow Buck
  • Himalayan Tahr
  • Chamois

Because of our location and the environment at Mt. Nicholas Station, Red Stag, Fallow and Wapiti are only minutes away from the lodge which ensures maximum hunting time.

Mt Nicholas has probably the best free ranging herds of Fallow Deer in New Zealand and over the years has produced some outstanding world class trophies. It also has an excellent base herd of both Free Range Red Deer & Chamois.

For Tahr & Chamois hunts, renowned and highly experienced helicopter pilot Richard “Hannibal" Hayes is available. His hunting skill and knowledge will get you rapidly into the home territory of the animals, taking you into a region of New Zealand that few would ever see.

Water fowl hunting is also available and turkey & pheasant hunts can also be included.

A fully guided one on one service is available for both Safari Park and Free Range hunting and all hunts can be personalised to meet the individual requirements of the client.
